Nova Director

Nova is Winnipeg Sonora Voices’ entry level choir program for children ages 5 and 6. Children learn to match pitch, sing in an ensemble, and develop their singing voice to express musical ideas in songs and engaging musical activities.

The Nova Director will:

  • Plan and implement an engaging, thoughtful, and age-appropriate curriculum of early elementary-level music activities and songs designed to engage, excite, and teach musical concepts and singing techniques to children ages 5 and 6.
  • Prepare an educationally-rich variety of songs and activities to share with parents at the Nova family sharing session in December.
  • Plan and prepare three choral pieces to present at the Winnipeg Sonora Voices family concert in March.

Contract Details:

  • 45-minute classes/rehearsals, once per week
  • Two performances – December and March
  • 16-week season – October to March
  • A collaborative musician (guitarist) is provided for several rehearsals leading up to the December sharing session and the March choir concert.
  • Salary: $1875 for 16 weeks.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Music degree (or higher) preferred, specializing in elementary music (or equivalent music experience)
  • Bachelor of Education degree (or higher) preferred
  • Experience working with young children
  • Conducting experience preferred
  • Vulnerable Persons & Criminal Record Checks completed
